Principal, Tempe Campus
Katie Anderson has dedicated nearly 20 years to supporting students with behavioral and learning needs and is passionate about helping every child reach their full potential. She began her career as a special education teacher before serving in leadership roles where she led districtwide initiatives in social-emotional learning, behavior supports, and crisis prevention, always with a focus on helping students and the adults who support them thrive.
Katie joined The Austin Centers for Exceptional Students in 2024 as the Assistant Principal of the Tempe campus. She believes that with the right supports, strong relationships, and a collaborative team approach, every student can make meaningful progress. She is committed to partnering with families and school districts to celebrate each student’s strengths, overcome challenges, and prepare them for success in the least restrictive environment. She now serves as the Principal of the Tempe campus.
Katie earned her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and her master’s degree in special education with an emphasis in Behavior Support from the University of Arizona. In her free time, she enjoys paddleboarding, rock climbing, and spending time outdoors.
