Mr. Eric Small
PBIS and Lead Training Coordinator
Mr. Eric Small has been working in special education for the last eighteen years. Sixteen of those years have been as a member with the Austin Centers. His journey at the Austin Centers began as a Therapeutic Support Staff where he supported teachers in their efforts to provide replacement behaviors and strategies for students. Eric served in several programs before becoming a lead TSS in the vocational Jumpstart program. Mr. Small later became the director of the first transportation department, later named Ready to Roll. Thereafter, he was appointed the first lead campus Behavior Intervention Specialist, providing campuswide training and support to include Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports and verbal de-escalation techniques. For over 7 years, Mr. Small set the standard for the position until becoming the first PBIS and Lead Training Coordinator.
Mr. Small has been a Certified Instructor of Crisis Prevention Intervention for over 9 years. He has provided training in the principles of positive reinforcement, identifying antecedents, and utilizing data driven decision making, specifically designed to support all students and employees on our campuses.
His passion and experience, along with the relationships he has built with the students he has worked with over the years have allowed him to grow with Austin Centers. His commitment to the students and staff members is at the forefront of his approach. He strives for their successes in all that he does.
