Methodology
Our approach is rooted in the core principles set forth by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), ensuring that our interventions are evidence-based and effective.
- Fine Motor Skills – develop and refine fine motor skills (such as writing, using utensils, and fastening buttons)
- Sensory Integration – helping students regulate and process sensory information effectively
- Self-Regulation – assists students in developing self-regulation skills, which are vital for managing emotions and behavior
- Adaptive Functioning- promoting independence in activities of daily living
- Social Skills – recognizing and managing their emotions, which can lead to more appropriate and controlled responses in social situations
- Assistive Technology – work in collaboration with other professionals, to ensure that the assistive technology aligns with the individual’s overall therapy and educational goals.
“I just wanted to let you know that since my son has been at Austin Centers, he has showed marked improvement in his social skills. He has always had the intelligence but it is shining through a lot more now that he is there. He goes to bed excited for the next school day and strives to be the best he can be. While we are still having a lot of the normal bipolar struggles, everything else is so wonderful. It is so appreciated and I honestly don’t know how we survived before the Austin Centers. It is amazing to deal with people that have more patience than most parents do. He is so happy to be there and loves every second of it. Thank you.
